Before adjusting the transmission, make sure that the vacuum system
is working properly.
The two adjustments on your transmission are the throttle pressure (shift
timing) and vacuum modulator (quality of shift).
Modulator adjustment:
If the shift is too soft or too hard, you can change the quality of shift by adjusting the modulator. Turning the adjustment “T” clockwise (right) will increase the pressure and harden the shift. Counter clockwise will drop the pressure and soften the shift.
Throttle pressure cable adjustment:
The throttle pressure cable tells the transmission when to shift. After our rebuilt transmission has been installed, snap the cable end (cup) onto the linkage ball, with a slight amount of tension on the cable. Screwing the white cable nut in will decrease the tension and cause the transmission to shift earlier. Unscrewing the white cable nut will increase the tension and cause the transmission to shift later.
Throttle pressure cable slide adjustment:
The slide type throttle pressure adjustment is as follows: Making the slide shorter increases the tension on the cable and causes the transmission to shift later. Making the slide longer decreases the tension on the cable and causes the transmission to shift earlier.
